Enrich. Engage Empower. TSSSA welcomes proposals for the 2018 Fall Conference at the Omni Westside in Houston. The deadline to submit your proposal for consideration is September 14, 2018. You will receive an email notifying you that your presentation was accepted soon after. Breakout sessions should fall under one of the three strands of our theme: Enrich. Many social studies educators became leaders because of a deep love of the vast content across the many disciplines. Whether U.S. history, geography, economics, or other fields, social studies leaders crave deeper scholarship about the content of the social studies disciplines. Session time will be devoted to diving deep into interesting content! Engage. Many social studies educators became leaders because of a passion for an innovative classroom. Creative teaching strategies, new technology integration, and attention-grabbing activities often reflect the desire for engaging instruction. Session time will be devoted to new classroom techniques that capture students' attention. Empower. Many social studies educators became leaders because of a desire to shape social studies curriculum and instruction beyond their own classrooms. Writing curriculum, constructing assessment, building staff capacity, and connecting to the community are cornerstones for the work of social studies leaders. Session time will be devoted to the tools and techniques that equip all those that strive to be an effective leader.
